How not to approach a web design agency
In our years of experience in the website design, development and internet marketing industry we have seen a lot of clients approach website design agencies and ask for a quote straight away. Business owners call a few companies or request for a quote online and select an agency based on the cheapest quote. This is one of the major reasons many business owners end up with bitter experiences.
How NOT to approach?
Without knowing your needs:
Do not approach an agency before you know what you want your website to do, if you are not aware of what a website can do for your business then it is wise to have a consultation with a website design company and ask them if they have worked with a similar business or your industry and about their experience. You can brief about your business, products, services and ask them for suggestions.
If you know what you need then talk to website designers and ask them their suggestions of building a website for your business. You can speak to many agencies about this and see how creative they are.
Do not ask for immediate quotes:
Web design companies receive a lot of email quote requests with out a phone number to contact, even worse are quotes without any reference websites or details about their business. At this point, the agency does not know what the customers needs are (emails asking for details are generally ignored) so they send cheap quotes.
Unrealistic Timeline:
Most people want their website to be built the moment they decide they want one. This is one of the major reason why web design projects fail. Creativity and technical development, both needs time and any compromise in giving enough time would result in poor quality outcome.
Do not decide only from a price point: While every business has their own budget to invest on things like website, they also have to understand that every type of website comes with a specific cost and they cannot go down than a certain limit. See if all the agencies you have contacted have matched your requirement and then compare the price between them.
